McEntire has changed record labels for the first time in 25 years, so the 54-year-old country queen not surprisingly favors songs that depict middle-aged women making new beginnings or at least considering their options. She ranges from polished country-rock to flirty Western swing, with songs about a guitar-playing girl (who sounds like she could be Taylor Swift) and a pistol packin' mama who encounters the boy who tried to rape her daughter.
